Recreation Coach Introduction

COACHES NEEDED!

The volunteer coach is the foundation of any recreational youth program. GSA volunteers make our recreational program one of the top soccer clubs in the state!   With over 2,000 recreational players at our combined locations, it takes over 350 volunteer coaches to run our recreational program each season. Needless to say, the volunteer coach is the heart of our club!  GSA supports our volunteer coaches in many ways.  The best part about the recreational program is that you don't have to be an expert to help out.  Our goal is to provide our volunteers with the tools they need to be successful and confident coaches!

COACHING YOUR CHILD

The biggest perk to of volunteering as a coach is getting the opportunity to coach your own son or daughter (or family member).  Not only is your child guaranteed to be placed on your team.  If your child is not yet placed on a team or still on the wait list, volunteering as a coach can place him or her directly on your team, essentially moving your player to the front of the line!

HEAD COACH DISCOUNT

Volunteer as a head coach and you can receive a $30 discount on your player's registration! Volunteer early and save $40 on your player's registration with the additiion of the $10 early bird discount (the early bird discount will be applied automatically when applicable).  To receive the  head coach discount, volunteers will need to get the head coach discount code HERE and apply it on the volunteer form when registering your player.

Already registered your player?  No problem, CLICK HERE to see how to volunteer.  GSA can refund your account as well, if you've already paid.

PRACTICE PREFERENCES

Practice schedules are a hot topic at the beginning of every season.  With most families being pulled in many different directions during the week, GSA allows our head coaches to select his/her  practice preferences (day and time slot) each season.  This is especially beneficial to parents/volunteers who may be limited during the week.

Have 2 kids playing? Coaching 2 teams is the best deal going!  Get up to $80 off your players' registration AND align your practices for both teams so that you are practicing on the same night, limiting the number of days you are at the park!

Some of the resources we provide:

COACHING COURSES

GSA offers an in-house coaching course each season for all our volunteer/parent coaches.  The course will help prepare volunteers and provide an in-depth look at what to expect as a rec coach, including a program overview, practice expectations and much more!

READY MADE PRACTICE PLANS

All volunteer head and assistant coaches will receive a ready made, age-appropriate practice plan emailed to you each week.  Courtesy of YouthSoccer101, practice plans will include pictures and videos of each activity, as well as an on-the-go printable link!  CLICK HERE for a sample plan from YouthSoccer 101.

We also have a full complement of practice resources availabe through the club and Georgia Youth Soccer available for you!

COACHING GEAR

GSA provides all NEW head coaches with cones, practice vests, a ball and access to many training aids.  We also provide ALL our head coaches with a new coaching shirt each season.
