Select RegistrationA select team is a team that plays at a higher level than recreational soccer and is under the supervision of the appropriate Director of Coaching. This would include the Academy, Athena, Classic, R3PL and National League programs. These teams have paid coaches and trainers and monthly fees are collected to support the payment of coaches, trainers, goalkeeper sessions and tournament participation. To qualify for a position on a select team, players are required to participate in a tryout where players are evaluated and accepted based upon the proper skill level for the team they are interested in joining. A complete list of tryout information is available by clicking the link in the left hand menu or going directly to www.gsasoccer.com/tryouts. Registration to these teams happens approximately 2 weeks after tryouts and you will receive information from the team on how to complete registration. Every player who is offered a position will be assigned a "code" that will be used during registration to make sure select players are assigned to the correct team. Select teams of all age groups will play a fall season that will consist of 8-10 games (depending on Georgia Soccer pairings). Fall practices will begin with mandatory team camp in late July/early August. The Fall season normally begins the Saturday after Labor Day. Most select teams will not play a spring season due to the conflict with high school soccer but select teams U14 and younger will play a spring season. Practice normally begins in mid February with the first regular season game being played the first Saturday in March. This will be another 8-10 week season (depending on Georgia Soccer pairings). If you have any questions you are encouraged to contact your Team Manager first. If you still have questions, a list of contacts are available on the website by clicking on www.gsasoccer.com/officers/
All players will receive a "Financial Disclosure" document at tryouts and at signing day. This document is to provide the player and parents a complete list of all expenses associated with select soccer including registration, training fees and anticipated tournament expense. The disclosure will also disclose how many players the team is anticipating to roster and how many months the training fees will be collected. The monthly expenses will vary per team depending on the playing level of the team and the number/cost of the tournaments they anticipate participating in. You should collect a financial disclosure from any team you are interested in trying out for during tryouts.
